Privacy Policy
Effective: October 19, 2026
Ora Serrata LLC ("we," "us," or "our") builds apps that respect your privacy. This policy covers our apps, Fovea and Rouse, the optional Rouse Relay server software, this website, and support correspondence.
Fovea
Fovea (Fovea: Clipboard Converter) processes copied images, PDFs, and text on your Mac. It does not upload your clipboard or file contents to Ora Serrata or to an online conversion service. Fovea requires no account and includes no advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
Clipboard access. Fovea reads the clipboard when you bring the app to the foreground and checks for changes while it is active. It uses this content to provide previews, cropping, text editing, conversion, saving, and copying back to the clipboard. It does not monitor the clipboard in the background or maintain a clipboard history.
What stays on your Mac. Fovea remembers your selected export formats, the paths of up to ten recently saved files, and permission to access the Quick Save folder you choose. These preferences contain locations and settings, not a saved history of your clipboard contents. Fovea does not send them to us or provide its own cloud sync.
Files you save or share. Saved files go to the destination you choose. Copy to Clipboard places your result on the macOS clipboard, and dragging a file into another app gives that app access to it. If you choose an iCloud-synced folder, a network drive, another app, or a macOS clipboard-sharing feature, that destination or service may transfer or retain the content according to its own settings and policies.
Retention and deletion. Fovea holds the current preview and unsaved edits in memory during use; it does not restore them as a clipboard history after quitting. You can clear the recent-file list using File → Recent Saves → Clear Recents. Clearing this list does not delete the files themselves. Saved files remain until you delete them, and other preferences remain locally until you remove the app's stored settings. Removing the app alone may leave settings and exported files behind.
Your controls. Quit Fovea to stop clipboard access. Where your version of macOS provides a clipboard permission control, you can also revoke access in System Settings. File and folder access is limited by the macOS App Sandbox and the locations you authorize. Contact us if you need help removing local settings.
The Rouse-specific sections below describe that app and its optional relay. Support email, this website, Apple diagnostics, children's privacy, your rights, policy changes, and contact information apply as described to both apps and their users.
Rouse: Information Stored
Rouse is designed to collect as little data as possible, and to keep what it does hold on devices you control. None of the following ever reaches a server operated by Ora Serrata:
- Device configuration you enter: names, MAC addresses, broadcast IP addresses, and SecureON passwords (if used) for the devices you want to wake
- Network identifiers for the Wi-Fi networks you save as Locations: SSID and BSSID
- Identifiers Rouse uses to recognize a Location over Ethernet: the router's MAC address and the local subnet
- Relay configuration you enter: relay hostname, port, labels, and auth token, if you set up the optional Rouse Relay, plus when the relay was last tested
- The time each device was last woken, and the name of the device that last edited each entry (a Mac's computer name; an iPhone or iPad reports only "iPhone" or "iPad")
This information is stored locally on your device and, if you have iCloud sync enabled, synced through Apple's iCloud Key-Value Storage to your other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account. A Mac's own Relay Mode settings, including its auth token, are kept only on that Mac. If you use that Mac as the relay for a Location, Rouse copies the token into that Location, and it syncs to your other devices with the rest of the Location's information when iCloud sync is on. We have no access to any of it.
Diagnostics report. Rouse can produce a diagnostics report to help with troubleshooting, but only when you choose Share Diagnostics. The report lists each saved device's name, MAC address, broadcast address and port, and its Location and relay names. It also includes your relay addresses and whether each one answered, the current Wi-Fi name, your VPN IP address (and on the Mac, its local IP address), your app and OS versions, and Rouse log entries from the last 30 minutes. Auth tokens and SecureON passwords appear only as set or not set, never their actual values. On iPhone and iPad it opens the share sheet; on the Mac it is copied to the clipboard and can be saved to a file. It leaves your device only if you send it somewhere yourself.
Rouse: Information Not Collected
Rouse itself does not collect the following information for Ora Serrata:
- Your name, email, phone number, or any other personal identifier
- Your precise geographic location
- Usage analytics, behavioral data, or telemetry
- Advertising identifiers
- The contents of any wake request you send
Permissions Rouse Requests
The app asks for the following operating-system permissions. On the Mac, Rouse asks for Location and Notifications when it first launches. On iPhone and iPad, Rouse asks for Location when you open Add Device or tap a button to allow it, or a few seconds after first launch if it restores saved Locations from iCloud. It asks for Notifications the first time it has a wake result or a wake problem to report. On every device, the system asks for Local Network the first time Rouse contacts something on your network. That can be an automatic check of a relay at a local address soon after the app opens.
- Local Network (iOS and macOS): required to send Wake-on-LAN magic packets on your network and to reach a relay at a local address. On the Mac it also covers the network scan described below.
- Location When In Use (iOS and macOS): Apple gates access to the current Wi-Fi network's name and BSSID behind the Location permission. Rouse uses this only to read which Wi-Fi you're connected to so it can organize devices by Location. Your precise geographic location is never accessed or stored.
- Notifications: used to confirm wake results and surface routing errors. You can disable this in system Settings at any time.
iCloud Sync
If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud sync enabled inside Rouse (the default), your device list, your Location list, and the time each device was last woken are synced across your Apple devices using Apple's iCloud Key-Value Storage service. This data is stored in your private Apple Account and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Ora Serrata does not have access to your iCloud account or its contents.
To stop syncing you can disable iCloud sync inside Rouse's Settings, or manage Rouse's iCloud data through your Apple Account settings, where those controls are available.
Rouse Relay (Self-Hosted)
Rouse Relay is optional server software you can run on your own always-on device (a Mac, a Raspberry Pi, a NAS, a Docker host, or similar) so the app can wake your devices when you're away from home. Ora Serrata does not operate a hosted relay service. Every relay is run by its user on their own hardware, on their own network.
Rouse on macOS can also take this role itself, through Relay Mode in its settings, instead of running the separate server. In both cases, requests go from the app to the relay you configure. Remote connections may cross the internet through your VPN or other network connection; they do not pass through a relay operated by Ora Serrata.
Each wake request sent to your relay contains only:
- The target device's MAC address
- The broadcast IP address and UDP port for the local network
- An optional SecureON password if your device requires one
- Your relay auth token in the request header, for authentication
The standalone relay does not keep a database of wake requests. Its operational logs can include target MAC addresses, broadcast addresses, ports, and error messages. Your operating system, service manager, or container settings determine where these logs are kept and for how long, including any log forwarding you configure. The relay does not send logs to Ora Serrata.
Support Email
If you email hello@oraserrata.net, we receive your email address, your message, and any name or attachments you include. We use this information to reply and investigate the issue you raise. Our email provider processes and stores the correspondence to provide email service.
We keep support correspondence unless you ask us to delete it. To request deletion, email the same address. Please send only the information needed for support and remove private content from any screenshots or sample files you choose to share. Fovea does not automatically send us its clipboard contents with a support request.
This Website
Visiting oraserrata.net is separate from using Fovea's local conversion features. This website is served through Cloudflare and uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure visits and page performance. Cloudflare processes technical request information to deliver and protect the site. Its Web Analytics service reports information such as pages visited, referring sites, browser and device type, country, and loading performance, without using analytics cookies.
The fonts are served from this website, so your browser does not need to contact Google Fonts. Website services do not receive Fovea's clipboard contents merely because you visit this site or open its privacy policy.
For the providers' handling and retention of website information, see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy and Cloudflare's Web Analytics documentation. You can contact us with questions about website data or privacy requests.
Diagnostics Shared with Apple
If you have opted in to "Share With App Developers" under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements on your device, Apple may make crash and performance reports available to us to help diagnose problems. We do not run any third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK. This channel is entirely Apple-mediated and you can turn it off at any time in your device's settings.
Third-Party Services
Rouse contains no third-party analytics, advertising frameworks, tracking SDKs, or social-login integrations. The only network activity the app has is:
- UDP broadcasts on your local network, to wake target devices
- HTTP or HTTPS requests to your own self-hosted Rouse Relay, if you have configured one, from the app and from its widgets
- On the Mac, when you click Scan My Network or Detect: a 10-second Bonjour scan of your local network that lists nearby devices so you can pick your relay
- On the Mac, while Relay Mode is turned on: listening on the TCP port you choose for wake requests from your other devices
- Apple's iCloud service, mediated entirely by the operating system, for the sync described above
Data Retention and Deletion
Rouse settings and synced data are held on your devices and in your iCloud account. Removing the app does not necessarily remove every copy:
- Delete device and Location entries you no longer need in Rouse. Uninstalling the app may leave settings behind, particularly on macOS. Contact us if you need help removing local settings.
- For synced data, changes can propagate to other devices while sync is enabled. Turning sync off stops future syncing but does not itself erase existing copies. Apple Account storage controls and backups follow Apple's settings.
- Stopping or uninstalling the standalone relay does not automatically erase its configuration or logs. Remove those separately using your service manager or container tools, including any copies in backups or forwarded logs.
Children's Privacy
Our apps are not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to object to or restrict certain uses of it. Contact us at the address below to make a privacy request, including a request concerning support correspondence. We cannot access or delete clipboard contents, exported files, or settings held only on your own devices; the app-specific sections explain the controls available to you.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes will also be noted in app release notes when new versions of our apps ship.
